Bicycle Traffic Data Input
Table of Contents
To create the proper behavior for the bike lanes, routes and conflict areas need to be modeled. First, place two new and separate static vehicle routes as shown below. One route need to tell the cars to continue straight without bikes, and the other route needs to tell only bikes to diverge into the bike lane.
Add Bikes to Vehicle Compositions
Go to Traffic > Vehicle Compositions to open the list window. Make sure the Relative Flows sub list is chosen from the dropdown menu.
Right Click in the main list and Click Add… to add a new vehicle composition.
Then Right Click in the sub list and Click Add to add a new vehicle type, in this case bicycle.
Choose the speed distribution, relative flow, and define the vehicle inputs see Figure below).
Place Bicycle Routes
Click on Vehicle routes network object.
Right Click on the link prior to the bike lane divergence, then Click on the vehicle link past the divergence.
Repeat this process one time, except Click on the bicycle link past the divergence (see Figure below).
Next, Uncheck AllVehTypes for each of these new routes.
For the vehicle route choose all the vehicle classes, for the bike lane choose only the 60: Bike vehicle class.
To model the conflict areas use the same procedure using the Conflict Areas network object. Give priority to the bikes by using Set Status to 1 Waits for 2.
